Bipartisan business groups call for re-election of Bolton

Endorsed by: National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), Austin Apartment Association, Austin Board of Realtors, Real Estate Council of Austin, Texas Association of Realtors, Texas Society of Architects

(Austin) – State Representative Valinda Bolton received enthusiastic endorsements from the business community.

“Valinda Bolton is the pro-small business candidate in this race. She is keenly aware of the issues facing small business owners and understands that they are the engine that drives the Texas economy,” said NFIB/Texas Executive Director Will Newton. "Her policy positions have indicated her strong support of many of NFIB's priority issues.”

National Independent Business Association (NFIB) is a non-partisan organization founded in 1943. It is the leading small business association representing small and independent businesses. NFIB represents the views of its members in all 50 states and Washington.

“Small businesses employ one out of every two Texans. Clearly, growing our small business sector is good for our job market and our economy,” said Representative Valinda Bolton. “We must do a better job of leveling the playing field. For some small businesses, the Margin Tax has had devastating results. I’m looking at ways to revise the statute so that tax payment is borne more equitably.”

While much of the nations’ housing market has faced difficulties, The Texas market remains strong.

“The Texas economy leads the country due to the driving economic force of the real estate industry,” said Randy Jeffers, Chairman of the Texas Association of REALTORS®. “Valinda Bolton showed her commitment to our Texas economy during the past legislative session with a 100% voting record for Texas property owners, which is why the Texas Association of Realtors has pledged its full support and endorsement to her re-election.”

“The Austin Board of REALTORS® is proud to endorse Representative Valinda Bolton in the 2009 General Election. Rep. Bolton’s protection of private property rights and support of the real estate industry makes her an important friend of the REALTORS®,” said Socar Chatmon-Thomas, Austin Board of Realtors Chairman.

Valinda Bolton was elected in 2006. Serving with distinction in the 80th Legislative session, Representative Valinda Bolton was awarded the 2007 Freshman of the Year Award by the Legislative Study Group for her commitment and dedication to sound public policy for Texas families.

Guided by her experience, strength of character and faith, Valinda came to the House of Representatives and listened to all sides, stood firmly for the best interests of the people of her district and Texas, and worked across partisan lines to find common ground to meet the challenges facing Texas.

As a freshman legislator she authored 18 pieces of legislation and successfully guided 6 bills through the legislative process and into law.
