Health Care Community Endorses Rep. Valinda Bolton
“An effective and committed voice for patients and physicians”

(Austin) – Rep. Valinda Bolton’s record on healthcare has earned her the endorsement of leading doctor, hospital, and social worker groups.
 
“Representative Valinda Bolton is a champion for healthy families and healthy communities, and we look forward to working with her again to improve the health care of all Texans,” said Manuel Acosta, MD, chair of the TMA Political Action Committee (TEXPAC) Board of Directors. “Representative Bolton’s legislative record proves that she is an effective and committed voice for patients and physicians.”
 
Texas Medical Association (TMA), the state’s top physician group endorsed State Representative Valinda Bolton. Speaking on behalf of 43,000 doctors and medical students, and 8,000 alliance members, TEXPAC is one of the largest bipartisan political action committees in Texas.
 
Valinda Bolton has indicated a willingness to work with hospitals to address health care issues. Texas hospitals want to work with lawmakers on new policiesthat will make health insurance more accessible and affordable,” said Dan Stultz, M.D., FACP, FACHE, president/chief executive officer of the Texas Hospital Association.“The 2008 elections provide the opportunity to elect candidates who will work with large and small employers, consumers, insurers, doctors and hospitals to fix our broken health care system,” he said.
 
Founded in 1930, the Texas Hospital Association (THA) is the leadership organization and principal advocate for the state’s hospitals and health care systems. It is based in Austin, and works to improve accessibility, quality and cost-effectiveness of health care for Texans.

Valinda Bolton was elected in 2006 and served with distinction in the 80th Legislative session. Representative Bolton was awarded the 2007 Freshman of the Year Award by the Legislative Study Group for her commitment and dedication to sound public policy for Texas families.

Guided by her experience, strength of character and faith, Valinda came to the House of Representatives and listened to all sides, stood firmly for the best interests of the people of her district and Texas, and worked across partisan lines to find common ground to meet the challenges facing Texas.

As a freshman legislator she authored 18 pieces of legislation and successfully guided 6 bills through the legislative process and into law.
